Fiji Weather by Month
Fiji is blessed with warm, tropical weather all year round. The seasons are the reverse of the Northern Hemisphere so when it’s cold and/or snowing a lot of people in the northern hemisphere escape to Fiji for warmer, sultry weather. It truly is a tropical island escape in more ways than one!
Generally, Fiji’s weather is beautiful every month of the year but during the months of November through to April, Fiji’s weather is much warmer and wetter which combines to create higher humidity. Some people find this to be a little stifling – especially when exploring the markets on the mainland in Nadi and Suva – but most resorts offer gorgeous lagoon pools, air-conditioning and beautiful common areas that take advantage of the shade from the swaying palm trees and stunning ocean breezes.
The outer islands (off the main island of Viti Levu) enjoy beautiful South Pacific ocean breezes – the perfect type of air-conditioning – so there’s always a cool spot to swim, sway or snooze and escape the heat.
Don’t let the higher rainfall stop you from visiting in the wet season. Tropical rain is actually very beautiful and you find it goes as quickly as it comes. Normally the showers take place in the inland parts of Fiji away from the coastal resorts and far from the outer islands. Normally it’s in the afternoon – a welcome reprieve from the sultriness of the day.
If you’re thinking of coming to Fiji and not sure what time of year is best for you, have a read of our weather summary by month. If heat is not for you we’d suggest the months of April -September – still gloriously warm enough to swim and have fun in the sun but without the intense humidity and heat that can hit you during the day and night.
